Event Details

We are pleased to present to you a morning seminar featuring SDC Presents: Getting Started with Sustainability Reporting “Meeting Hong Kong requirements for listed companies, and Benefits of enhanced transparency, disclosure and stakeholder engagement” on 23 October 2015 with a panel of four experts.

The Canadian Sustainable Development Committee welcomes you to join experts in sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting for presentations and discussion.

The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited is consulting stakeholders in Hong Kong in preparation for launching ESG reporting requirements for companies listed in Hong Kong, likely by the end of 2015 or early 2016. Corporate reporting on governance, environmental, health and safety (EHS), and social performance has been expanding rapidly since the launch of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)’s Guidelines on Sustainability Performance in the late 1990s and Hong Kong saw its first EHS report in 1997, which was prepared by CLP Hong Kong, followed by sustainability and integrated annual reports, and ongoing web-based disclosures. Locally, other companies such as Swire Pacific, Cathay Pacific, MTR, Shangri-La, Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Li & Fung, the Link REIT, New World and others report on their ESG performance and some are recognized through the Hang Seng, Dow Jones, and/or FTSE4Good Sustainability Indices, and the HKCSS’s Caring Company or other recognition schemes.
