The customers will not need to sign unto the wifi on board, since the newspapers are available on a local network thus not forcing the passengers to pay for a wifi connection.

The Nordic Sky portal on which the papers can be read is available onboard Finnair’s A330 and A350 aircrafts, and as the digital papers are made available Finnair will begin to phase out the tradition paper versions.

“We are happy to be able to offer a wide selection of digital newspapers to our international customers,” says Tiina Vesterinen, Director for Customer Experience Development at Finnair. ”With digital papers, customers always get the latest copy, regardless of where their flight is departing from, and we never run out of stock.”

The A350 – one of the flights with the new service – connects destinations such as Bangkok, Shanghai and Singapore with Helsinki.

Finnair promises a variety of more than 50 international papers.
