On the morning of May 22, Paula Parviainen, Ambassador of Finland to Singapore along with Anna Korpi, Counsellor of Education and Science paid a visit to the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, a-120-year old School for girls located in Bukit Timah, Dunearn Road Singapore.
The visit was made as a part of “World Readiness Conversation” and EU’s educational project named “EU Comes to Your School” that recently had its official kickoff event on May 13. The two projects aimed to promote the appreciation of different cultures and languages to students in Singapore by engaging them to broaden their perspective beyond their classrooms to be parts in larger national and a globalized world.
Ambassador Paula started her visit by inviting the students of Singapore Chinese Girls’ School to discuss about the similarities between Finland’s schools and Singapore’s school as well as to contrast the differences in educational system of two countries.
Later, Ambassador Paula and Counsellor Anna shared their knowledge and experience on EU and Finland to more than 400 students from Secondary 3 and 4 so that the student can have a deep understanding about the importance of the project and the reason making Finland’s education successful.
At the end of the visit, the students took this opportunity to ask the ambassador and the counsellor questions about Finland and its’ unique characteristics.
