KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. 
Thailand and South East Asia is meanwhile a focus area for KTH. A member of Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (TSCC) the university joins the exhibition arranged to commemorate the 25 Years Anniversary of TSCC in 2014, held on 24-26 October at CentralWorld, Eden1. There, KTH wishes to meet potential master students who are interested in studying in Sweden, and at KTH particularly.
‘We are a different option to get a degree from a highly ranked university (110 at the QS ranking and 126 in the Times Higher Education ranking) other than the traditionally English speaking markets. We are focusing on India and China, mainly because a tradition for those students to study in Sweden, and South East Asia as there’s a presence of Swedish companies in the region,’ says Ms. Margareta Svedlund at KTH International Relations Department.
KTH targets mainly post graduates, like Master students and PhD:s, and the university has over the years been quite successful in attracting Thai students with as many as 50 in peak years. Margareta Svedlund attributes that to good relations and many Swedish companies in Thailand. There will be a KTH Alumni-chapter in Thailand launched during the TSCC 25 Years Anniversary celebrations.
KTH has active partnerships with Chulalongkorn University and Kasetsart University, including exchange student agreements. Similar agreements are in place with National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Prior to the anniversary exhibition is KTH actively promoting its participation through traditional means like its Alumni and the recruitment agent SELT Inter as well as via its home page and Facebook.
To prove that KTH means business and can guide advanced research and development from idea to ready-to-use products it will highlight one of its most amazing yet simple to use innovations during the exhibition: a battery charger that runs on water to generate electricity.
Named myFC PowerTrekk, it is the world’s first portable fuel cell charger for consumer use that runs on water. The myFC Puck is filled with salt and contains no heavy metals unlike most disposable batteries. One Puck weighs similar to a AA-battery but contains effective energy corresponding to 7 AA-batteries.
TSCC and KTH will give away one myFC Power Trekk during a lucky draw at the exhibition.
