Myanmar and Norway discussed cooperation on environmental conservation, official media reported on 21 January 
2014. Myanmar Minister of Environmental Conservation and Forestry U Win Tun met with Norwegian Ambassador Ms Ann Ollestad in Nay Pyi Taw in talks on development of forestry sector, protection of biodiversity, especially in development of Inlay Lake which is Myanmar’s world-known tourist site in Shan State, and betterment of social economy of ethnic minorities residing around the lake.
Moreover, conservation of water resources, development of eco- tourism industry and enhancement of technology expertise and human resources between Myanmar and Norway were also covered by their discussions.
