NIRAS, a leading Scandinavian consulting engineering company, held an official open ceremony of its new office in Manila, Philippines on 17 January 2019.

Among the attendees, there were H.E. Mr. Harald Fries, the Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines, Tor Lundström, NIRAS International Development Consulting Director, Antti Inkinen, NIRAS Finland Director and NIRAS colleagues from around the world.

The Swedish Ambassador, Mr. Harald Fries, expressed his delight to welcome NIRAS as a Nordic company in Philippines and his intention to work together with NIRAS toward the ongoing issues such as gender equality and human rights.

In his opening speech, Inkinen shared the importance of the office in the broader context of NIRAS’s operations, given that it will provide working space for both members of NIRAS’s EU Framework Contract (FWC) Unit and its Tender Specialist Unit (TSU), and both of these units work with colleagues across multiple time zones.

Tor Lundström revealed that NIRAS chose Manila to be its new home because Manila offers an energy of young and dynamic workforce that he hoped will bring NIRAS new opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.

“It’s really great to see this place for the first time … This represents not only the teams that actually are the core of our work, but something that you can feel at home at and proud to be part of,” he said.
