Norway’s Ambassador visited Terengganu, Malaysia

Gunn Jorid, Ambassador of Norway to Malaysia, paid a visit to Terengganu, Malaysia where she met Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhta, the head of government in the Malaysian state of Terengganu, and gave a presentation at the UMT – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

On the first day of her visit, the Ambassador met Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhta. They discussed the topics regarding to maritime and oil industry.

Dr. Ahmad wrote on his Facebook’s page that “Terengganu intended to follow the method that Norway applied in order to manage their petroleum resources since Norway is the largest oil and gas producing country in the world besides the Middle East.”

As part of our trip, Gunn Jorid also visited the UMT-Universiti Malaysia Terengganu where she gave a presentation on Norwegian Maritime and Fisheries Industry.

The Ambassador described that the maritime and fisheries industry had a signifcant role in Norway for many decades because it has created many jobs and stimulated the economy in communities along the entire coast.

According to Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur’s Facebook page, 95% of the freezed salmon imported to Malaysia was from Norway. And Terengganu also had abundant maritime and fishery resources as Norway, so the Embassy had a pleasure to exchange their knowledge and experience on fishery with Terengganu by exchaging students both Norwegian and Malaysian abroad to study as part of their degree.

“We wish to see similar value creation in Terengganu.” wrote the Embassy.
