Norwegian Crown Prince meets Indonesian President in Jakarta

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon Magnus have pledged to boost bilateral ties after meeting at Merdeka Palace on Nov 26, reports the Jakarta post.

The crown prince’ visit to Indonesia is the first ever to the nation made by a member of Norway’s royal family.

“We are very honored and delighted for your visit and I hope that this will promote a better bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Norway,” Yudhoyono said.

Presidential foreign affairs spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said the meeting focused on the environment, energy, trade and investment.

After the meeting, Yudhoyono and his wife, Ani Yudhoyono hosted the crown prince and his wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, at the State Palace inside the presidential compound.

The crown prince also met ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan at the ASEAN Secretariat on Monday and attended a bilateral business forum.

The Norwegian delegation is also slated to visit Yogyakarta, where the crown prince is slated to meet Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and deliver a special lecture at the Gadjah Mada University.

The crown prince is on a five-day visit to Indonesia that will end on Nov. 29. His delegation includes Norwegian Trade Minister Trond Giske and several top Norwegian executives.
