Danish architecture is globally renowned, and Shanghai may to get its own landmark straight from Denmark. The RÉN building is designed by Bjarke Ingels, and takes its form from the Chinese character for person ‘人’. Currently just an idea, which might be completed. 
People’s Building; Shanghai Hotel and Conference Hall:
The REN building is a proposal for a hotel, sports and conference center for the world EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.
The building is conceived as two buildings merging into one. The first building, emerging from the water, is devoted to the activities of the body; It houses the sports and the water culture center. The second building emerging from the land is devoted the spirit and enlightenment; It houses the conference center. The two buildings meet in a 1000 room hotel: a building for living.
