Thai Airways cancels flights to Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo due to the Kashmir conflict

Thai Airways cancelled all its flights for Europe on 27-28 February 2019 to avoid Pakistan and northern India.

Thai Airways has 13 routes to Europe and it was forced to cancel its flights from Bangkok to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and other 10 flights to Europe including Moscow, Rome, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Paris, Brussels, Milan, Vienna and Zurich.

Several international airlines operating flights from East Asia to destinations in Europe included Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, flydubai, Gulf Air, SriLankan Airlines, Air Canada, Eva Air, Singapore Airlines, British Airways were affected and had to reroute flights as well.

Following airline cancellations, hundreds of passengers were left stranded in chaos at Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Sumeth Damrongchaitham, Thai Airways president affirmed the cancellations and the urgent meeting was held to reschedule the flights.

“By closing the airspace, every flight from Thailand to Europe has been affected. For flights that are going to depart this evening, we will call an urgent meeting to consider the impact of such events,” he said.

On the latest update, Thai Airways announced on the night of 27th February 2019 that it has resumed flights between Bangkok and Europe as follows:

Thai Airways’s day flights from Bangkok to Europe now scheduled on Thursday, February 28, 2019 are:

• TG974 Bangkok-Moscow [delay from actual schedule]

• TG916 Bangkok-London

• TG922 Bangkok-Frankfurt

• TG962 Bangkok-Stockholm

Thai Airways’s night flights from Bangkok to Europe scheduled on Thursday, February 28, and early morning of Friday, March 1, 2019 are:

• TG920 from Bangkok-Frankfurt

• TG910 from Bangkok-London

• TG924 from Bangkok-Munich

• TG930 from Bangkok-Paris

• TG934 from Bangkok-Brussels

• TG940 from Bangkok-Milan

• TG936 from Bangkok-Vienna

• TG960 from Bangkok-Stockholm

• TG970 from Bangkok-Zurich

• TG950 from Bangkok-Copenhagen

• TG954 from Bangkok-Oslo
