The European Locksmith Federation will be part of the ELF Convention that will take place on the 22nd of May 2015 in Dublin. The convention will be touching a wide series of important topics referring to the actual and future trends in the industry, standards and compliance rules for locksmiths in Europe, as well as interesting facts on restricted key control or licensing and legislation for locksmiths.

 

Brief History Of The European Locksmith Federation

The European Locksmith Federation has seen the light of day in 1984 and its main purpose was to enable better cooperation between various locksmith organizations and manufacturers of security products across the Old Continent. Norway, along with Denmark, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Sweden are the countries that have set the ground for Federation more than three decades ago and it currently brings together 18 national associations representing a total of 1600 companies, more than 10,000 locksmiths and more than a dozen manufacturers. The Federation as its main office on Helsinki and it is managed by a board of 16 directors, a president and two vice presidents. The yearly convention organized by the ELF brings together locksmiths in Europe, while aspiring to promote the locksmith profession here, help them improve their relations with the governments of their home countries, provide them with educational programs and keep them informed on the latest developments and changes in the industry.

The American equivalent of the ELF is the Associated Locksmiths of America, which is the largest organization for locksmiths.
