On Wednesday 14 December, Sweden and the Royal Government of Cambodia signed a one year extension of the ongoing agreement on SIG, School Improvement Grants, of SEK 61.5 million.

The objective of the School Improvement Grants is to assist Cambodia in providing quality education services to all children. With this agreement, it is expected that access to education services will expand, completion of primary and secondary education will improve, and the same for capacity for school management. The decisions on how to use the funds are taken at school level by the school management together with the school support committee. The SIG disbursement formula has a clear pro-poor focus addressing the needs of disadvantaged areas.
