Another big KONE order in Malaysia

The Finnish, global supplier of elevators and escalators KONE Corporation has announced another big order in Malaysia.

In August the order to supply 60 elevators to Sky Park, a highly integrated upcoming development in Cyberjaya, a town within Selangor, was announced.

Sky Park, developed by MCT Bhd, is expected to be an iconic development in the skyline of Klang Valley, Sky Park spills over 11.12 acres of land, where six exclusively designed buildings will stand. The mixed development consists of serviced apartments, small office/flexible office (SoFo) complexes, strata office, commercial office, shopping mall and a sky bridge that links five of the buildings.

KONE will deliver 23 KONE MonoSpace elevators and 37 KONE MiniSpace elevators to Sky Park. Out of 60 elevators, 44 will be scenic elevators to complement the unique building design while providing views of Cyberjaya. These elevators can reach a travel speed of 4m/s and are connected to the KONE E-LinkTM monitoring system that provides real-time information and statistical reports on their performance.

This elevator contract comes in addition to the huge order for KL118 Tower, the tallest building in Malaysia, announced in June 2014.

KONE will be supplying 105 elevators and escalators to the 118-storey mixed-use tower. Comprising of a total of more than 400,000sqm of residential, hotel and commercial functions, KL118 tower is expected to be the tallest building in Malaysia, upon completion in 2019, a new landmark of the country. The building will be connected to a metro station and its 2nd phase of development will consist of another 4 residential towers.

In addition to the solutions ensuring people flow and achieve space optimization, the installation of KONE’s energy efficient elevators will assist the new complex pursuit of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold or Platinum certification.

12 of the elevators installed at the KL118 Tower have a travel speed of 10m/s and this includes 11 KONE DoubleDeck. Besides these, two DoubleDeck observation elevators with travel speed of 8m/s, and two service elevators with travel speed of 9m/s and travel height of almost 500m are also included.

Furthermore, the elevators in KL118 will be equipped with a fully automated Occupant Evacuation Operation system that executes building evacuation automatically in event of emergency. Building users will receive automatic messages and evacuation instructions, via the elevator Destination Operating Panels, on every floor.
