Quiet Garden Party in Scandinavian Society Siam

Only 34 members of the more than 200 members had bought tickets for Scandinavian Society Siam’s Garden Party that took place on the roof terrace of Oakwood Trilliant in Sukhumvit Soi 18 on Saturday 18 February 2012. Most of the participants were old hard core members, including three former Chairmen of the Society, Steinar R. Paulsen, Ole Madsen and Gregers Moller. For two new member couples, the out door party was their first encounter with the Society.

The party arrangement had been fully outsourced to ScanDeli accross the road from Oakwood as was the case with the highly successful Crayfish Party on 1 October last year. To keep the ticket price down, the food was a simple BBQ bufffet with marinated chicken breasts and some cold cuts and a very nice cheese and Wasa knackebrod. The wine had been sponsored by G Four Company and was free flowing. Surprisingly, the coffee after the meal was not included in the 1800 baht.

The nice Filipino band provided a lively atmosphere and managed several times with a combination of Abba songs to pull a full dance floor.

On the positive side was also the absence of a lottery and the absence of rain. The plan B had been to move down in the cafe of ScanDeli in case of rain, but that was luckily avoided.

Around 11 pm most of the guests had left and the party ended at 12.30.
