Norwegian National Day Celebration in Singapore

Around 250 people joined in to parade and celebrate the Norwegian National Day at Fort Canning Park on 17 May 2012.

Everyone who came gathered at the visitor centre of the park before parading together with waving Norwegian flags to the actual venue which had been specially set up for the occasion.

There were beverages served while the crowd gathered in front of the stage to watch some performances and speech. Although the weather was quite cool in general, it had begun to become very humid at around 5.30pm.

But despite the humidity, both the adults and children alike were dressed up in suitable formal attire and beautiful dresses. Some even wore the traditional costume to the event.

Norwegian priest, Eva Marie Jansvik, was present at the celebration along with Lise from the Norwegian Seamen’s Church.

After all the performances and speeches, the guests were led to the feasting area where they helped themselves to the delicious food provided.

Even the children were treated to fun with a huge bounce house and bubble machines along with the variety of food and snacks provided.

All in all, the event was a great success as everyone had the chance to connect with each other while meeting old friends. And they were able to celebrate the National Day right here, in Singapore.
