One Speedy Night in Bangkok

The Nordic Young Professionals (NYP) Entrepreneurial Night & Mini Speed Networking event was held at the TenFace Boutique Hotel in Bangkok on Friday 2 November, 2012 and received a high number of participants. Present were a mix of NYPs, Thais and a mix of nationalities that were more than curious about the event’s offerings which subsequently, due to all enthusiastic participants, the evening was a great success.

For many, finding Tenface was found to be a bit of a challenge, tucked away in one of Bangkok’s residential areas and anonymous from outsiders. However, the boutique hotel is creatively decorated with a fresh splash of something different and being away from the commercial eyes of the main districts gave it that much more charm.

For the evening Carlsberg was offering free beer, available upon arrival and delicious appetizers were kindly sponsored by Tenface for an impressive buffet for everybody to sink their teeth in.

On this evening, two excellent speakers were invited to present a speech about their experiences on entrepreneurship. Mr. Steve Cheah, the host of Global Entrepreneurship in Thailand (GEW) spoke about how the organization aims at promoting and inspiring entrepreneurship.

Following this speech, Mr. Jakob Lykkegaard Pedersen, who is an innovative young Danish entrepreneur, gave his opinion on different opportunities and pitfalls when building up and developing one’s own business. This encouraged some interesting debate and advice seeking questions from the audience.

In return for their contribution, both speakers received gift vouchers, a dinner for two at the Italian restaurant JoJo sponsored by St. Regis as thanks for supporting the event.

The venue was occupied with approximately 100 people. Spirits were high as participants were eager to network and converse with others at the mini speed networking, which turned out to be not quite so “mini”, due to the amount of excitable event goers bustling to participate in the speed networking process. It all began a little chaotic. But eventually extra tables and chairs were provided to accommodate and everyone was happy.

As the evening was coming closer to the end it was time to distribute an array of lucky draw gifts. This time lucky winners went home with gifts sponsored by: Admirals Pub & Restaurant, Hotel Mermaid, Culture One, gFour Wines, Impressions, Phothalai Leisure Park, Italasia, ScandAsia, Stoli and TenFace.

It was a wonderful fun event that was appreciated by many, it also proved to be an excellent occasion for networking as well as gaining additional insight on how to succeed as a young professional entrepreneur in Thailand.

All members of the NYP committee were present at the event: Ms. Caroline Vamnes, Ms. Ditte Rosenquist, Ms. Jiraya Chanchon, Mr. Johan Davidsson and Ms. Rose Jensen

The NYP-committee looks forward to inviting you to upcoming networking events with focus on alternative experiences and venues to ensure a lively and dynamic community.
