70 Chinese importers, distributors and procurement managers of seafood participated as eight Danish seafood suppliers displayed their products in Shanghai on the 9th of November.
The event was arranged by the Food, Agriculture and Fisheries team, Trade Council in China. From the Danish Consulate General Shanghai Commercial Officer Lydia Jiang took part in the Danish Seafood Promotion Tour.
“Seafood consumption in China is increasing at an exceptional rate. To fulfil the demands, the Chinese market is looking for foreign solutions, and is importing continuously more seafood. For Danish companies this represents a tremendous opportunity to do business, as well as sharing their competencies with a potentially major market,” says Jiang.
“This tour has emphasized the great potential of increased trading and collaboration on the seafood market between the two countries.”
Taking place at the Danish Food Showroom, a showroom for Danish quality food and beverages in Shanghai, the attending companies used the event to network, speaking to colleagues or potential business partners and locating possible future sales channels.
The event was a part of a Danish Seafood Promotion Tour that started with a three-day exhibition to Asia’s largest seafood show, the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo in Dalian. Subsequently, the delegation went to Shanghai and participated in the B2B event. The tour also included a visit to a local supermarket in Shanghai in order to gain a better understanding of the Chinese consumer market in the seafood business.
The delegation of seafood suppliers consisted of Aquapri, Sirena, DayCatch Greenland, Planets Pride, A. Espersen, Norlax, Jens Møller Products and Vilsund Blue.
