Sweco gets Filipino project

The Swedish consulting firm Sweco VIAK has won a contract to run the pre project phase for the first environmentally approved garbage depot in the Philippines.
The plant will be built in Surigao City, southern Philippines. Sweco’s contract is valued at SEK 4 million. The assignment is a continuation of the strategic garbage planning project Sweco initiated 2003 in Surigao City.
“The work in Surigao has been widely noticed in the Philippines because many cities need assistance to match the country’s new environmental legislation,” says Karin Eberle, project manager at Sweco VIAK.
This plant is the first garbage depot built according to new strict Filipino environmental laws. The assignment runs until 2006.
