Big Audience For Expert Tax, Legal Advice

Judging by the number of participants, taxation and legal issues when living abroad are obviously something that many members of the Nordic Chambers of Commerce in Thailand find interesting and important. In cooperation with SEB and PWC, the Nordic Chambers had invited their members to an evening of networking and information and close to 80 people showed up.
Ole Hamre from SEB Singapore informed the participants about private banking when living outside your home country and how SEB can help you with this.
He was followed by Richard Schulte from PWC who gave a general description on issues to consider when you work, live or invest abroad. He emphasized the importance of understanding the tax consequences before you “make your move” and to plan ahead. And also to remember that a good solution in one country might be a bad solution in another.
Finally Richard Irwin from PWC Bangkok updated the participants on specific rules in Thailand on residency, tax rates, corporate income tax, inheritance tax, taxation of shares and double tax treaties. He underlined that no one with residence in Thailand should suffer from double taxation.
After the presentation many of the participants used the opportunity to get answers to some of their questions from the experts from SEB and PWC.
