Norway’s Royalty Attend Thai King’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration

Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were among royalty from all around the world who gathered in Bangkok on June 12 to honor His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand’s 60th anniversary on his throne, the longest-serving monarch in this world.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were representing Norway at the lavish celebration, and brought their infant son Prince Sverre Magnus with them.
Representatives of 25 royal houses from Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Thailand’s Asian neighbors were escorted country by country to be received by the 78-year-old Thai king and members of Thai royalty.
Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn greeted all three Norway’s royalty enthusiastically on June 11. The little prince was said to have behaved well, sitting wide-awake but quietly in his nanny’s arms.
In the evening of June 13, Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit along with the world royalty will join a state dinner banquet hosted by Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, together with all other members of the Royal Thai Family, at Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall within the Grand Palace.
