Norwegian Church Aid Helps Laos Fight HIV/AIDS

Known in Norway as Kirkens Nodhjelp, the Norwegian Church Aid organization has decided to inject a considerable financial amount into the fight against HIV/AIDS in Laos. The donation amounts to approximately 263,000 USD (more than 1.6 million NOK), and the money will support a four-year prevention and control project in the Bokeo province.
The project includes activities in the three target districts of Tonpheung, Huayxay, and Phaoudom with the aim of reducing HIV/AIDS infections and other sexually transmitted diseases. These activities include the dissemination of information on the risk of HIV/AIDS and measures to prevent, control, and treat the disease among the most vulnerable groups as well as vocational training housewives and young people.
