United Plantations Berhad Celebrating 100 Years With Royal visit

When United Plantations Berhad (UP) is celebrating their 100th anniversary on Friday 15 September 2006 it will be done in style. In fact, it will be a full day event with HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark taking part during the day and evening.
Celebrations start in the morning with official opening of the new Borge Bek-Nielsen Library & Auditorium in memory of the much admired and loved former Senior Executive Director and Chairman through many years, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri B. Bek-Nielsen. Also on the programme is an opening ceremony of the new Biomas Reciprocating Boiler and the Biogas Plants which are estimated to half the energy costs in the refinery in an environmentally friendly manner. HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark will officiate the opening of a new park named Taman Benedikte. Approximately 200 guests are expected to take part in the day programme.
The evening is expected to gather approximately 1,200 people from near and far in an enormous tent. Important guests include HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark, the Sultan of Perak DYMM Sultan, Yang DiPertuan dan Raja Pemerintah Negeri Perak Darul Ridzuan, Paduka Seri Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, the Danish ambassador to Malaysia HE Borge Petersen and his predecessor flying in from Iceland HE Lasse Reiman. Also a number of prominent Danes in SEA, senior executives of UP and guests from abroad and Malaysia will be attending the dinner function.
