Scandinavian Artists at European Jazz Festival in Vietnam

Representing Finland is the Espoo Big Band, which is one of the finest big jazz orchestras in Europe. Lina Nyberg & her band PLING from Sweden and the Swing Sisters accompanied with bandleader Peder Kragerup from Denmark also entertain the audience with their rhythm and styles.
The varied program presents both traditional and experimental jazz from Europe and also partly joined by the local Vietnamese musicians.
Every night after the main concerts, the European artists will join local counterparts for jam sessions which passionately embrace jazz tones. In Hanoi, these take place at the Jazz Club and the Sofitel Plaza’s Summit Lounge, and in HCMC at the Sax’s.
The Vietnamese band La Do from the Military University of Culture and Arts will join with the Danish Swing Sisters for a performance in Hanoi. Meanwhile, jazz band members will also conduct master classes with students from the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music. In HCMC, the Swedish band Lina Nyberg PLING will have an exchange with local interested musicians and jazz lovers in the Sax’s Arts.
Other representatives from Europe are PascaL Schumacher Quartet from Luxembourg, JULIEN LOURAU QUARTER from France and QUENTIN LIEGEOIS from Belgium.
This annual event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information, the European Commission Delegation to Vietnam and the Embassies of 6 European Union member countries, namely Sweden, Denmark, Wallonia-Brussels (Belgium), France, Luxembourg and Finland.
