Ibsen’s Women Well-Received in Singapore

Her performance is called “Ibsen Women” and is a one-woman-show in which she displays six of Ibsen’s most challenging and famous female characters.


Her show on Monday, December 11 was a closed performance for professionals and students from several of Singapore’s institutions of the arts. The Embassy cooperated closely with LASALLE SIA college of the Arts in connection with this performance. The performance was followed by a masterclass session in which students and professionals alike got to
examine Juni Dahr techniques and talk freely about their impression of Ibsen , his work and Juni Dahr’s interpretation. There were alot of questions during this session and many Singaporean actors to-be met Henrik Ibsen for the first time. 

Tuesday’s show was an performance with guests invited by the Embassy and by the Norwegian bank DnB NOR which was one of the sponsors of these events. The performance was followed by a buffet dinner in the POD.

The Embassy is proud to add Singapore to the long list of locations where Henrik Ibsen has been celebrated in 2006. This years marks the centennial of Ibsen’s death – and Ibsen-performances and Ibsen-related cultural events have been taking place in more than 120 countries all over the world.

Juni Dahr is a  renowned Norwegian actress who is internationally praised for her Ibsen interpretation. The Embassy is of course also proud to present the Singapore audience with such an accomplished actress.
