Denmark – New Home of Muaythai Boxing?

Go into any stadium or arena in Denmark and you will see all kinds of sports. Soccer, volleyball, handball, badminton etc.
However, if you are looking for a good muaythai boxing fight you usually will have to look hard and long. But recently fights were on in both Aarhus and the Danish capital of Copenhagen.
In Aarhus Thailand’s superstar from the Rajadamnern Stadium, Nopadet Chuwattana clashed with local fighter Leroy Beck for the WBC title.
Chuwattana did manage to knock down Leroy Beck in round two, but the Dane was in no mood to let the Thai have an easy night. Beck fought back and gave the very best he had forcing Chuwattana to use all skills. In the end that proved to be enough, as the Thai won a tight points decision.
In Copenhagen a match was on for the light heavyweight WBC title. Danish fighter Basam Chahour met fellow European Simon Lenetof. In a very close fight Chahour was the one to smile in the end, as he won the title on points. Before winning the title Chahour showed great courage as he had to fight the two last rounds of the match with an injured knee. In the dying seconds of the match he fought off a fierce elbow assault.
