Norwegian telecommunications operator Telenor is planning to expand further in Asia and will seriously look at any
opportunities that may come up, Chief Executive Jon Fredrik Baksaas said at the company’s capital markets day on May 25.
Telenor is already active in Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia and sees a benefit from expanding further in that region rather than finding new markets on other continents.
In Vietnam, Telenor invests there through its MobiFone Viet Nam business, Baksaas added that Indonesia and the Philippines also looks attractive.
“I’m not saying it will happen today or tomorrow, but if there is an attractive opportunity, we will certainly look to it if there is a case for Telenor there,” said Baksaas.
