Ferrosan Asia Pacific established via acquisition of Singaporean distribution partner

Denmark’s international consumer healthcare and medical devices company, Ferrosan A/S, in April 2003 acquired its Singapore-based distribution partner Bionax Holdings Pte. Ltd., which has for many years handled the marketing and sales of Ferrosan’s OTC healthcare products across the Asia Pacific region.
The acquisition is an important step of Ferrosan’s strategy in getting closer to its consumers and customers in the important Asian markets.
“Through Bionax’ sales organization we will gain direct access to a number of important markets for Ferrosan’s products,” the company said, adding that its direct presence in Asia meant that all its present and coming activities in the region would be carried out from Singapore.
“In addition, on a longer-term basis we will be able to take part in the expected further development in these markets. Thus we will be able to provide Ferrosan with additional turnover and within a few years experience important growth.”
Ferrosan expects that a part of this growth will be achieved from launching of its existing and new products in Asia.
The Danish company has also appointed Jan G. Vistisen as managing director and Peder Sahlholt as deputy managing director of the newly established Ferrosan Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.
Jan Vistisen has a combined 16 year experience in Asia including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand primarily with the EAC group of companies. He was most recently managing director, international, in the world’s largest services group, ISS A/S with responsibilities for businesses in Asia, Middle East and South America.
Peder Sahlholt was, prior to taking his new position in Singapore, based in Soeborg, Denmark, and in charge of Ferrosan’s international sales within Western Europe, Asia and North and South America, primarily through partnerships.
Bionax has a turnover of approximately DKK 80 million. Besides its office in Singapore, Bionax has sales organizations in Malaysia, Hong Kong, PRC, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. The company also has sales in Taiwan and Indonesia.
Bionax employs about 110 employees, with the organizations in Malaysia and Australia being the largest. Its most important brand is Imedeen (skincare products), which is sold at all the markets. The company also markets and distributes a number of other products, such as Cellasene (cellulites product), Remifemin (menopause product) and EnQten (energy) in some of the countries.
