On 10 June 2007 the Inspector General of Vietnam’s Government Inspectorate, Minister Tran Van Truyen is to lead a high-ranking official delegation to visit Sweden and the Netherlands to explore the best practices and experience in the inspection work and complaint settlement, especially in anti-corruption. The visit is also a chance for Minister Tran Van Truyen to explain to his hosts Vietnam’s anti-corruption efforts.
The study visit is made under the framework of the Programme on Strengthening Comprehensive Capacity of the Inspectorate System to 2010 jointly funded by Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Canada and Denmark.
During its three-day stay in Sweden the delegation will discuss and share views on common concerns with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ombudsman Office, Auditing Office and others related to anticorruption work; the mechanism for implementation of the GI Programme; support and cooperation modalities between Vietnam and the donor government in the fight against corruption and another related issues. The role of the media in fighting corruption is also on the agenda of the visit.
A half-day workshop will be held with the participation from these above-mentioned agencies as well as the concerned professors, experts and scholars, to exchange experience, expertise and lessons learnt in the fight against corruption with an emphasis to be placed on the establishment and operational mechanism of the advisory group as structured in the GI Programme Management Model.
The Vietnamese Minister is expected to meet Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden, Ms Gunilla Carlsson.
