Norway Financially Aid Vietnam to Control Environmental Pollution

On December 4, 2007 Norwegian Ambassador Kjell Magne Storlokken signed a project agreement with Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh to carry out health and safety measures and solid waste management in petrochemical sector with aim to reduce environmental pollution.
The Norwegian Government will provide US$1.2 million in non-refundable aid for PetroVietnam Corporation to develop an efficient management system for reducing accidents and negative impacts on the environment.
“PetroVietnam Corporation is a joint venture between Norway and Vietnam for 10 years now. We are concern with the global warming issue and so we step in to help Vietnam,” said Norwegian Ambassador Kjell Magne Storlokken.
