Nokia to Open More Retail Outlets in the Philippines

On December 19, 2007 Nokia Philippines country general manager William Hamilton Whyte said the popularity of the Nokia brand cell phone in the country, especially their high-end products, has pushed the company to expand its chain of retail outlets.
“Filipinos love mobile phones. In Nokia, they go for the N-series. So, we want to have more presence in all big cities in the Philippines,” he said in an interview Wednesday during the opening of the Nokia store at the third level of the Ayala Center Cebu expansion building.
The Ayala branch, which is in partnership with Junrex cell phone accessories, is the second Nokia store in Cebu next to its first outlet at the SM Cebu City Northwing. There are 27 Nokia stores nationwide and over 30 care centers and drop-off points.
Whyte said the advantage of a Nokia store other than the wide range of mobile phone products and accessories is having a well-trained staff that could properly explain all the available functions of a Nokia phone, a service often not present among other vendors.
