A 45-year old Danish woman has been arrested in Cambodia for attempting to smuggle narcotics. According to local Camboadian media reports quoted by Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet on Friday, she had attempted to send by mail a package containing what turned out to be 10.761 headache pills. It is not known if she knew the pills were not narcotics.
Tom Hansen, the Danish representative in Phnom Penh, says to Ekstra Bladet that he has not yet managed to locate and talk to the 45 year old woman.
An initial court hearing was expected Friday but the New Year holiday may see this postponed till next week.
The local media reported that she risks being sentenced to 20 years imprisonment if found guilty of narcotics smuggling.
