President Nguyen Minh Triet Back After Norway Visit

President Nguyen Minh Triet arrived back in Hanoi on the morning of June 11, 2008, after successfully concluding his official visit to Norway, Austria and Greece. In a statement released upon the return of the President, his wife and an accompanying delegation, Nguyen Minh Triet said the visit made a contribution to promoting friendship and co-operative ties between Vietnam and Norway, Greece and Austria.
“During the visits many important accords and agreements were signed. These include an agreement on assistance for a project on upgrading water supply for Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province, between Vietnam and the Kingdom of Norway,” he said.
“Over the past years, co-operative ties between Vietnam and Austria, Norway and Greece have witnessed important developments. After the visits, economic, trade and investment co-operation between Vietnam and the three countries, which remains below their potential, will be promoted,” he saids, adding also that he hoped that after the visits, Austria, Norway and Greece will create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese goods to enter the EU.
“I strongly believe that alongside boosted political and economic ties, co-operation in science and education between Vietnam and the three countries will be expanded in the interest of the Vietnamese, Austrian, Norwegian and Greek peoples, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world at large.”
