Swedish King visits Bangkok

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden plans to visit Thailand due to forthcoming Baden Powel Fellowship event in Bangkok. As longstanding member of the international Scout Movement the Swedish King has been the spokesperson of honour in the Baden Powel Fellowship – a society of older members of the Scout movement – the since 1977.
King Carl XVI Gustaf has been a part of the Scout Movement in more than 50 years. He started out as a young boy in 1955 and was nicknamed ‘Mowgli’ – After the main character of Rudyard Kipling’s famous children book ‘The Jungle Book’ from 1894), and has remained a dedicated member of the movement ever since.
In his capacity as protector of the international Scout Movement, HM Carl XVI Custrav ve been to Thailand several times before. in June 2006, he presented HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand with The Bronze Wolf witnessed by Chairman of the World Scout Committee Herman Hui. The Bronze Wolf is the only award made by the World Scout Committee and is given solely in recognition of outstanding service by an individual to the World Scout Movement.
