Sweden Denies SAS Hotel Project Partnership in Vietnam

 The Embassy of Sweden has denied, that a Swedish company was involved in the controversial Novotel Hanoi On The Park hotel project in Hanoi. Since construction of the four-star hotel began in Thong Nhat Park on June 6 last year, the project has drawn criticism from residents and architects, who say it will destroy the park’s greenery.
In a note sent to the Hanoi People’s Committee, the embassy said SAS, partly owned by the Swedish government, was no longer involved with project investor SIH Investment Ltd. Swedish Ambassador Rolf Bergman said the embassy had been asked by the Hanoi Department of External Affairs to provide information about the involvement of SAS in the hotel joint venture.While SAS invested some money in SIH Investment Ltd. in the 1990s for the Hanoi hotel project, it is no longer involved according to the ambassador.
