Amnesty International in Stavanger celebrated the International Day of Freedom of Speech by realising hundreds for balloons into the air in memory of the many people around the world – including Vietnam – who are imprisoned for their political belief to remind the world of the fact that freedom of speech is a basic human right.
“In Norway we can use our own freedom of speech to defend other people’s right to express their beliefs and to defend the human rights in their countries. Though the internet we can recruit people all over the world for our mission to send this message to the undemocratic leaders – If we are enough, we can send a message which not even the most powerful can ignore”, Camilla Anderson, leader of Amnety International in Stavanger stated.
