New Board in Danish Women’s Network in Thailand

Unsteady turnouts and a successful fashion show for the Danish Crown Princess. The past year’s ups and downs got evaluated and a new board was carried unanimously on the annual general meting of the Danish Women’s Network Thursday night 19 March at the Italian restaurant Beccofino near the Thonglo marketplace in Bangkok.
Brunches, ladies dinners, a weekend trip to Dolphin Bay Resort and the chance to improve the children’s mother tongue in the Danish playgroups attracted during the year several women from the Danish community. On the contrary the attendance at the Network’s movie nights and ice-skating events has been quite a disappointment. This was the conclusion of the outgoing chairwoman of Danish Women’s Network in Thailand, Anne Gitte Rugaard.
A major success was the Fashion Show, which was held by DWN in the honour of the fashion-conscious Crown Princess Mary by request of the Ambassadors wife during the Royal visit in November last year, although it became highly distracted by the notorious blocking of the airport.
“Despite political disturbances and a short period of time to plan everything, the show became a great success and all tickets were sold in only two weeks – and we managed to collect 240.000 baht for our charities”, Anne Gitte Rugaard stated.
Her successor will now be selected among the new committee, which now consist of the re-elected Majbrit Madsbøll and Camilla Flindt Althoehn and the new members Susanne Mørch, Karin Hykkelbjerg Sarfelt and Maiken Hallingskov. Emile Gehl and Anette Heide were elected deputy members.
Danish Women’s Network is an association in Thailand for women that are either Danish or have Danish connections. Write to [email protected] for further information.
