Swedish MP Roughed up by Mugabe’s bodyguard In Singapore

A Swedish MP states, that a bodyguard of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe roughed him up in Singapore for taking a picture of the African leader. Mugabe is believed to be making occasional secret visits to Singapore every month.

Riksdag member Fredrik Schulte of the Swedish Moderate Party told the news agency Tidningarnas Telegrambyra he was visiting a bookstore in the Asian city last week when Mugabe’s entourage entered the shop and he reacted by snapping a picture of a man who was believed to be the 85-year-old African leader.

That allegedly prompted a bodyguard to shove Schulte against a bookshelf and force him to erase the images.

Schulte told TT upon returning to Sweden Tuesday that he turned his camera’s memory card over to the Riksdag IT support staff for examination and was told the images can most likely be recovered.
