Singapore-Company Installs Turbines at DONG-Operated Wind Farm

Singapore-based KS Energy Services has successfully completed the installation of the first wind turbines at the Gunfleet Sands windmill park be operated by Danish company DONG Energy. The project is located seven kilometres offshore Harwich. KS Energy’s is operating on a contract with Siemens until the end of December 2010 with contract options thereafter.


The contract marks Singapore-based KS Energy’s entry into the renewable energy industry. The contract was originally to be fulfilled by sister-ship KS Titan 1, but the KS Titan-1 was lost at sea en route from the Gulf of Mexico to the U.K. in October 2008. The 172 MW Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farm is part of the Thames Estuary which consists of Gunfleet Sands I and the extension Gunfleet Sands 2. The wind farm, expected to begin production in 2010, will use 48 Siemens 3.6 MW wind turbines.
