Maersk Moves Ship Management Headquarters Singapore

From New Year the entire Maersk Ship Management headquarters will be located in Singapore. This has meant a farewell to 80 people at the oil and shipping giant’s headquarters in Copenhagen.
Director of the Company A.P. Moller – Maersk in Singapore Bjarne Foldager says according to Danish business news Borsen: “It’s been an ongoing process where around 80 jobs have been moved from Esplanaden in Copenhagen to Singapore. And some of them will also be moving to Manila in the Philippines, when the future Maersk training is in place. Next year in March, the operation of containerships and the entire crewing will be relocated in Manila”.
Labor is cheaper in Asia and A.P. Moller – Maersk is also interested in moving this part of the organization to a place where they in the future will recruit most of their sailors from.
“The whole idea is to make it as efficient and competitive as possible”, says Bjarne Foldager.
