An annual meeting among Lao and Swedish officials from Lao National Statistical Centre and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) was held on December 5 in Vientiane City to review the cooperation in statistics between the two countries.
The participants were presented with a report on estimating the statistical development in Laos, particularly the cooperation in statistics between Lao National Statistical Centre and SIDA. They also discussed the role of statistics in implementation of the poverty reduction plan of the Lao government, as well as future cooperation between Lao and Swedish governments.
The cooperation in statistics between the two countries started in 1992. The current project, signed on November 20, 2001 and runs from 2001-2004, is the fourth project under this cooperation programme.
