STYLE:NORDIC gets a fresh lease of life with a strategic restructure of its management and a dynamic revamp of its Scandinavian design offerings. Shoppers can expect new merchandise from existing and never-before available brands while corporate clients benefit from refreshing additions to the already comprehensive furniture & furnishings catalogue.
Come April 2010, Style:Nordic is under the management of Victoria Karlsson. Handing over the majority shares in the operation to Victoria Karlsson and her husband Conny, former sole owner Jonas Ericsson will continue to maintain a minority share in the exceptional Scandinavian lifestyle store he had set up in 2005. Ericsson will be based in Sweden from the 2nd Quarter of 2010 and continue to support Style:Nordic from there.
“After having been in Singapore for almost six years, first studying at NUS and after that creating and starting up Style:Nordic to its tremendous success, it’s time for me to move on and back to Scandinavia. Writing a book about entrepreneurship and design will also give me options to come back for more projects in this incredible city-state. At this point I am very happy to be able to hand over the company to Victoria and Conny Karlsson. A couple with a huge interest in Scandinavian design and also to continue the fantastic work with our company to take it to next level.” says Jonas Ericsson, founder of Style:Nordic, Singapore.
This management change will see Victoria as Managing Director. She will oversee business operations and continuously develop its product portfolio. This includes the upcoming new Style:Nordic store on Orchard Road — the second outlet due to open in May 2010. Victoria holds a business degree from Arizona State University (B.Sc.) and hails from the house broker industry prior to her move to Singapore in 2005.
Mrs. Karlsson will be assisted by David Tang, an experienced Business Development Manager who has been with the company since December 2009. Mr. Tang will focus on forging a successful B2B business, including project sales and wholesale distribution. Style:Nordic is expected to benefit from his strategic connections with designers, developers and architects in Singapore and around the region.
In addition, Mr. Chris Chan has returned to Style:Nordic as Retail Sales and Operations Manager after a few years in other companies. He has extensive retail experience including 2.5 years in Style:Nordic previously. He will now be managing and developing the retail side of the company.
Victoria explains the direction of the new Style:Nordic:
“Style:Nordic will obviously go through some changes under the new management, but I still believe it is important to keep the main concept of Style:Nordic – to bring Scandinavian design to South East Asia. As part of our new direction, we are increasing our focus on corporate clients and we have also plans to open one more retail outlet in the near future. Some new brands have already been secured; The cool fashion brand TIGER of Sweden is already in our store and soon to come are the furniture brands Asplund and SA Furniture.”
