Denmark and China Celebrate 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Today Denmark and China celebrated the 60 years of fruitful Sino-Danish relations with a reception at the Embassy of Denmark in Beijing. Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Lene Espersen, hosts large reception at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen. 


 


11 May 2010 marks the 60 years’ anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and the People’s Republic of China. The anniversary was celebrated today with a grand reception at the Embassy of Denmark in Beijing. Among the guests were Danish Permanent Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Claus Grube, Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Fu Ying, and a number of former Chinese Ambassadors to Denmark and other VIPs.


 


The Embassy of China in Denmark is celebrating the 60 years of diplomatic relations today with a reception as well and with the participation of Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Lene Espersen. Later same day, the Foreign Minister of Denmark will then host a large reception at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen.



 


All 260 guests were greeted personally by Denmark’s Ambassador to China, Mr. Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen upon their arrival at the reception. In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador said:


 


“2010 is an exciting year in Sino-Danish relations with a wide range of activities to mark the establishment of diplomatic relations on 11 May 1950. Chinese citizens will be able to participate in a number of festivals and events in Chongqing, Guangzhou, Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai.”
