Finnair`s Asian Traffic Strengthened by 28 % in May.

Finnish
flag carrier Finnair said today the number of its passengers grew by 3.1%
year-on-year to 589,100 in May 2010. Moreover, the Asian numbers went up in the
air with an 28 % increased of sold seats to Asia.

 

In May
2010, scheduled flights carried 531,200 passengers, which is an increase of
6.6%.

 

The strong
growth in scheduled traffic that began in March 2010 continued in May, Finnair
stated, adding that, although, aircraft still have room for additional demand. Scheduled
traffic went up by 16%.

 

Asian
traffic demand was strengthened by 28%.

 

Cargo
demand has developed well. Cargo traffic rose by 30%, and on Asian routes — by
37%.

 

The figures
include the performance of Finnair’s own MD-11 cargo aircraft, which began
operating in mid-May. The cargo aircraft flies from Helsinki
to Hong Kong and to Seoul.

 

In May
2010, 87.4% of all Finnair’s flights arrived on time, which is 4.8 percentage
points less than in the same month last year. On-time performance percentage
for scheduled traffic fell by 4.9 percentage points, resulting in 88.5% this
year.
