Car Free Day in Jakarta Twice a Month

Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo announced Tuesday that the city would add the frequency of the Car Free Day event to twice a month after the city’s anniversary on June 22 to meet the raising demand from the residents and also improve the air quality.

“The addition of frequency of the car free day proves that this is a city that listens to its residents,” he said before launching a victory parade for five municipalities that won the Adipura cleanliness awards.

He handed out the time to hold the event to the Jakarta Environmental Management Agency (BPLHD).

The Car Free Day is currently held along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. M.H. Thamrin at the end of every month.
