Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs supports Thai library

The Swedish state has decided to provide funding for a library at the Thai information center in Ragunda through the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs.
     Meanwhile, the Thai state will donate books and other media to the library which targets Thais and those interested in Thai culture and literature.
     Geographically speaking, this group comprises Sweden, the rest of the Nordic countries as well as Northern Europe.
     In Sweden, every fifth library visitor is of foreign descent and as they grow older their demand for literature and information in their native language increase.
     The Ragunda library project is developed in close cooperation with the international library in Stockholm.
     Three immigration associations in Sweden, representing Syria, Greece and Chile, are already cooperating with the international library arranging study visits, meetings with authors and discussions about literature in their native language.
