Denmark Day at World EXPO

Prominent Danish guests such as the Crown Prince of Denmark and Minister for Economics and Business Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen, were in Shanghai and took part in the celebration.

This morning, the Crown Prince and Minister attended the opening ceremony at the EXPO Center where Deputy Party Secretary of Shanghai, Yin Yi Cui, welcomed them, and The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir sang traditional Danish songs.

Later, the Danish delegation stopped by the Chinese, Danish, UK Pavilion as well as Denmark’s own Odense Pavilion at the Urban Best Practice Area.

During the day, visitors to EXPO could enjoy impressive Danish cultural performances such as Ingrid Kristensen Dance Theater, Percurama and the kids from Vejle Spring Team, who danced and did gymnastics and acrobatics.

In the late afternoon, a reception was held in the Danish Pavilion where guests enjoyed the rhythms of Percurama Percussion Ensemble and a stylish fashion show by Danish Kopenhagen Fur – the world’s largest fur skin auction house – while sipping on specially made Copenhagen Cocktails.

The day ended with a spectacular Dialogue Gala Concert conducted by Lars Hannibal at the EXPO Center which brought together some of the finest artists from China and Denmark featuring three classical art forms – music, ballet, and singing.
