Finnair and Japan Airlines Expand Cooperation

Oneworld alliance partners, Finnair and Japan Airlines (JAL), will expand their cooperation network in Europe starting from August 1, 2010.

“Finnair is very happy to serve European and Japanese customers with fast and competitive services between the respective markets, via Helsinki, together with our partner JAL,” says Paavo Virkkunen, responsible for Finnair’s oneworld alliance relations.

In August, JAL’s flight number will be added on Finnair’s services connecting Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich, Warsaw and Brussels with Helsinki. JAL and Finnair already have a code share partnership between Helsinki and Finnair’s Japanese destinations Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.

With the additional code shares JAL and Finnair offer excellent connections between European and Japanese business cities, via Helsinki. Finnair and Japan Airlines started their code share cooperation in 2005. With its own flight number, JAL already offers its customers on Finnair’s services between Japan and Helsinki, between Helsinki and other Scandinavian countries as well as Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

Japan Airlines joined the oneworld airline alliance in 2007 and Finnair joined oneworld in 1999, the year that the alliance was formed. Finnair Plc Communications 20 July 2010
