Finland, Vietnam Team Up to Fight Crime

Finland wants to boost security cooperation with Vietnam , especially in firefighting and search and rescue activities, said Finnish Minister of the Interior Anne Holmlund.


She emphasised that the time-honoured ties serve as a firm foundation for Finland and Vietnam to further their cooperation in the fields of training, tourism, labour and industry.


The minister told PM Dung that she discussed with officials from the Ministry of Public Security measures to enhance their cooperation in the fight against crimes.


PM Dung spoke highly of the results of his guest’s working session with the Ministry of Public Security.


He said he hoped the Finnish Interior Minister’s visit would broaden her agency’s cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and contribute practically to Vietnam-Finland cooperation.


The PM wished that Finland would assist Vietnam ’s police in training its personnel, provide firefighting equipment and security devices, and collaborate in the fight against crime.


Earlier, talks were held between the visiting Finnish Interior Minister and Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Khanh Toan.


They both agreed that in the current world situation, international cooperation in preventing and fighting crime is of extreme importance and that cooperation between the two countries in the field should be bolstered.


They signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Finnish Interior Ministry./.
