Swede Napped for Using Fake Credit Cards

A Swedish national wanted for alleged credit card scams was arrested on Walking Street by Immigration Police.

Just after midnight on Monday a 27-year-old Swedish national named Charbel Malkesson was taken into custody on Walking Street by Immigration police on charges of being involved in a scam whereby the credit card details of up to 260 people had been obtained and fake credit cards produced.

Police from the Transnational Crime Data Center at Chonburi Immigration in Jomtien Soi 5 had been searching for Mr Malkesson, who was born in Beirut in Lebanon but was now a Swedish national, for some time.

Evidence was shown of Mr Malkesson obtaining money and materials as far back as 2008 from allegedly fake credit cards. While in custody Mr Malkesson made a number of phone calls and sent text messages while his Thai girlfriend, suitably attired in a Loy Krathong outfit, looked disappointed with the outcome of the evening.
