Finnish Expat Killed Crossing Road from Bar

A Finnish expat, Jari Peter Soder, 41. died when walking across a main road in southern Phuket about 3am on Sunday, police said today to PhuketWan.


The man was struck by a car outside the Asia Bar in Viset Road, Rawai, as he headed back to his home on the opposite side of the road. The Andaman Boutique resort is nearby.

Phuketwan has the man’s name but is waiting to be told that relatives in Finland have been informed before publication.


The man has a Thai wife and had been living on Phuket for at least a year, Phuketwan was told.


Chalong police were called to investigate. Officers said the driver of the car that struck the man, Pragrob Kurlchaiyaphoom, 34, from Kathu, stayed at the scene.


The driver was being interviewed at Chalong police station today. The man’s body is in Vachira Hospital, writes PhuketWan.
